LAMP Ministries
LAMP Ministries is a Catholic lay missionary association, comprised of people who serve among the materially poor, with a focus on evangelization. LAMP’s call has drawn us into the beating Heart of Jesus as that Heart of Compassion embracing those most in need, with our Blessed Mother’s Heart united to His.
The presence of LAMP and our LAMP minister, Mr. Edward Greene, has helped Holy Cross to reach out to otherwise unreachable area. The ministry has grown and evolved over the years, especially in the spirituality of the needy.
The following are some of the services rendered by our LAMP Missionary and volunteers:
The Holy Cross Scripture Group:
The Holy Cross Scripture Group offers a way to connect with God and fellow parishioners in a peaceful and reverent format, by sharing conversations and discussions concerning various Bible readings.
The Holy Cross Christian Fellowship:
Serving the spiritual needs of our brothers and sisters who are homeless, out LAMP Ministry offers guidance, support and prayers for those less fortunate.
LAMPLIGHTERS
LAMPLIGHTERS are a Catholic leadership group which helps selected young people develop faith, self- esteem and compassion for the poor. Holy Cross Church has had LAMPLIGHTERS since 1977, with participation from 5th to 8th Grade students from Holy Cross School. Their services include making religious crafts for the needy, and occassionally visiting senior residences, supervised by our LAMP Missionary.
Holy Cross Evangelization Outreach:
A unique approach of welcoming our neighbors into our Catholic faith and parish family. LAMP ministries has established an Evangelization Table on 42nd Street to inform passerby’s of our Catholic faith, and to distribute bibles, fliers and other materials for those who stop by.
Eucharistic Ministry for our homebound parishioners:
Our ill, disabled and hospitalized parishioners can still participate as members of our parish family and at the table of the Lord through visits from the LAMP Missionaries.

The Holy Cross Scripture Group will present Lectio Divina to finish the wonderful season , before we close for the summer, beginning Thursday May 9th at 6 PM. Bibles will be provided for each session.
